Tropic Air Team Selected for Airport College Scholarship

We are proud to announce that Tropic Air, the leading regional airline of Belize, has been selected as the recipient of the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) – Airport College Aviation Diploma Scholarship.
This six-week training initiative will support the professional development of three outstanding Tropic Air team members, each specialising in a different area of airport operations.

Tropic Air: Belize’s Aviation Pioneer
Founded in 1979, Tropic Air is a privately owned airline headquartered in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. With a fleet of 15 Cessna Grand Caravans, the airline operates 125 daily scheduled flights across Belize and to destinations in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. With over 260 employees, Tropic Air is known for its commitment to safety, service, and the Belizean community.
Diana Ireland - Shaping Service Through Learning
Diana Ireland, Learning & Development Coordinator, will be joining the Passenger Operations diploma programme. A passionate trainer with 15 years of experience, Diana hopes to enhance Tropic Air’s customer service standards by deepening her understanding of passenger handling.
“This scholarship will give me the confidence and foundation to design effective training that aligns with our core values,” she says.
Luis Marin - Strengthening Ramp Safety
With over two decades of experience at Tropic Air, Luis Marin is responsible for Ground Operations and Aviation Security. As he joins the Ramp Operations diploma, Luis is looking forward to sharpening his skills in approved ramp procedures. “I’m excited to bring back knowledge that can improve training and standardise procedures across our operations,” Luis explains.
Vasfield Gomez - Elevating Cargo Operations
Vasfield Gomez, Cargo General Manager with 28 years at Tropic Air, is ready to improve the efficiency and care of the airline’s cargo services. His goal in the Cargo Operations Diploma is to learn advanced cargo handling techniques and share them with his team. “This opportunity is about professional growth for me and the entire cargo department,” Vasfield said.
