We are excited to announce that an eLearning training course, Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) for logistics, is now ready and released.

The course is intended for staff working on logistics and provides practical information how security should be taken into account in different areas of activity. The student will also become familiar with the European Union’s AEO regulations, their requirements and the AEO mandate.

Training has been divided into four sections:

  1. Introduction
  2. Security Solutions
  3. Transport and Logistics

The course takes about 35 minutes.

Airport College International wanted to help logistics service providers (LSPs) in global business to tackle security challenges and created an AEO eLearning course according to European Union’s AEO regulations.

The future of HR in a data-driven world

According to studies people become happier when they invest in an experience. Based on this fact it makes sense for companies to build employee engagement programmes based on experiences.

What do you need to make it happen?

1. Understand your workforce

In five years from now 75% of the global workforce will be millennials. Their work culture is increasingly driven by behaviours, beliefs and expectations and you need to understand their needs and values.

2. Technology to collect and analyse information

Factors such as age, family, workplace location, team size, training, etc. will yield value and give you an opportunity to personalize communication within your organisation and peers.

Once you have suitable tools, which are not so expensive today, you can identify patterns, build insight across your organisation and make more accurate predictions to manage and retain your people.

We have closely studied this megatrend and built our online solutions to promote the modern HR organisations.

We have three online solutions available today to help your company’s HR in a data-driven world

These solutions are:

  1. Employee Recruiting Tool
  2. eLearning Training Courses
  3. SMS Reporting System

We can help your company find a workforce, onboard your workforce and train personnel and comply with safety management system requirements.

We at Airport College are actively looking for new clients and would like to provide you with our solutions for tackling these industry-wide challenges.

Please drop me an email to discuss more.

We support sustainable air transport

According to our Environmental Policy, we are committed to developing online eLearning training services which support and promote sustainable and eco-efficient air transport.

eLearning is good for the environment too

Britain’s Open University’s study found that producing and providing eLearning courses consumes an average of 90% less energy and produces 85% fewer CO2 emissions per student than conventional face-to-face courses.

eLearning eliminates the need to travel for both instructors and students

The cost reduction of expenses and a little help for the environment go hand-in-hand and brings environmental and monetary benefits to your organisation.

When well-designed online training products are used, the training related saving potential is huge, up to 80%, as we have stated earlier.

When combining these two benefits together, the positive impact is compelling and powerful

It helps organisations increase efficiency and cost reduction and can be linked to your organisations corporate image. We have done several case studies with our clients. If you are interested in hearing about the results, I’ll be happy to share what we have learned with you.

eLearning can produce great results

We can help you achieve your goals and at the same time help the environment, your people – and save money and time.

If you would like to know more about us and our solutions, please send your request by e-mail directly to me.

Thanks for your valuable feedback!

Dear newsletter reader,
it was a great pleasure to get feedback from readers about my last week’s blog – The Next Generation Training Initiative. We at Airport College all enjoyed learning about your ideas on how to use emerging learning technologies in the future.

Here is an example of ideas and comments from your colleagues around the world.

“We are also interested in VR and simulator training. It’s expensive technologies but we believe it could be very useful to provide training to our staff”.
– Head of Ground Handling Training

Based on your feedback we listed some of the training topics where you feel Virtual Reality (VR) will add value to the learning experience and create concrete benefits for learners. These are:

  • Aircraft Walkaround Check (Departure)
  • De-icing/ Anti-icing
  • Pushback and Towing

We would like to know more

It would be great if you could drop me an email and list any other training topic we should include on the list above.

Thanks in advance!

With best regards,

The Next Generation Training Initiative

AirportCollege.com launched The Next Generation Training Development Initiative in August 2018, which combines several research and development projects under one umbrella.

These projects explore current and emerging learning technologies with the objective to identify solutions that will become part of our future training portfolio.

Emerging training technologies with three focus areas

A range of new technologies and interesting concepts are now emerging. After various discussions with clients and partners we selected three main areas, which are:

  • Virtual Reality (VR)
  • 3D and Augmented Reality (AR)
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)

We at AirportCollege.com want to exploit new technologies like Virtual and Augmented Reality so that they add value to the learning experience and create concrete benefits for learners.

In the area of Artificial Intelligence we are researching how to add smart communication between training solutions and other systems such as incident reporting.

What topics should an Information Security Online Course cover?

We are now writing the second version of this course  and encourage you to provide us with information about your special needs for this important topic.

According to studies employees often do not see themselves as part of the company’s information security efforts and therefore take actions that ignore their company’s security interests.

Employees’ behaviour plays a central role in information security in organisations and the security culture needs to be improved continuously. Our Information Security Online eLearning Training Course is designed for personnel to gain relevant knowledge and acquire practical skills as to how to avoid information security mistakes.

Information security is the practice of preventing unauthorized access to information – electronic and physical.

The purpose of this online course is to

  • Provide information as to how employees can avoid information security mistakes.
  • Provide skills for new employees and refresh the skills of current employees.
  • Help companies arrange training flexibly.
  • Help companies gain compliance with information security recommendations.

Airport College International wanted to help organisations tackle information security challenges and created an Information Security eLearning Training Course.

Cyber Security vs. Information Security

What do you think, should the course content focus more on Cyber Security or Information Security? Should the course title even be Cyber Security eLearning?

Please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information and share your ideas.

Critical Human Factors at work

Human Factors is about understanding our behaviour and factors that are critical to our performance. People play a central role in airport operations as 80% of apron accidents and incidents involve some type of human error or violation of company policies, processes, or procedures.

Our Human Factors online eLearning training course is designed for personnel to gain relevant knowledge, understanding and practical skills to understand how we humans behave and how to avoid human errors in airport operations.

The purpose of this online course is to

  • Provide information as to how to avoid human errors and reduce the risk of incidents, accidents and damages.
  • Provide skills for new employees or refresh the skills of current employees.
  • Help companies arrange training flexibly.
  • Help companies gain compliance with current requirements and recommendations.

The primary focus of any human factors initiative or training course is to improve safety and efficiency by reducing and managing human error made by individuals and organisations.

To know more about our Human Factors, or other online training courses, please send me an e-mail.

Are you prepared to tackle upcoming challenges?

Read this blog and learn about the challenges the aviation sector will be facing in the near future and what solutions are available.

According to IATA’s global HR professional survey they listed five key topics, which will have significant impact on the aviation industry.

The five key topics are:

1. Significant growth in jobs is forecast

The three job roles with the highest anticipated growth are:

  1. Ground operations
  2. Customer service
  3. Cabin crew

2. Finding new employees is a much bigger challenge than dealing with retirements

The recruitment of new employees is the biggest challenge the aviation industry faces.

3. Current training initiatives are not effective enough

The quality of training programmes is not satisfactory. Organisations are looking for help from external partners to improve training.

4. Providing training in safety and customer service skills are of higher priority than IT and digital skills

Safety and customer service skills have critical importance and training staff to master these skills is a top priority.

5. Technology is changing the customer service role

Traditional customer service roles need to be evolved to deliver a smooth, hassle-free and enjoyable experience throughout the entire passenger journey.
